DriveClub Experimented With Virtual Reality Tech

But that's not the reason for its delay.

Drive Club PS4 Evolution

Sony and Evolution Studios have been working on DriveClub for a while now. Originally slated to be a PlayStation 4 launch title, the game was delayed into this year, and as of right now, it still doesn’t actually have a launch date.

People have long speculated at the game’s delay, particularly since it left such a glaring hole in the PlayStation 4’s exclusive lineup that will only now be addressed with the release of Sucker Punch’s inFamous: Second Son soon, and once news of Sony’s VR set, codenamed Project Morpheus, broke, people speculated that VR integration might have been the cause for the delay.

Well, as Gamespot reports, President of Sony Worldwide Studios Yoshida says that that is totally not true- Evolution Studios did in fact play around with the VR tech, but they were never working on integrating it into DriveClub, and it is not the cause for the game’s delay.

“There’s a rumor about the reason of the pushback of Driveclub was to make it Morpheus compatible…that’s totally untrue,” Yoshida said, pretty explicitly.

DriveClub is still due out for the PlayStation 4… some time. We’re not exactly sure when, but we will keep you posted.
