Many have been surprised in EA’s emphasis on single player games of late, and with big narrative-driven titles like Dead Space and Star Wars Jedi: Survivor having enjoyed plenty of success, the company doesn’t seem to be showing any signs of slowing down on that front. Another game in that group is Motive Studio’s action-adventure Iron Man game, which was confirmed to be in development last year, and an interesting new detail seems to have emerged on it.

As per a job ad recently published for the position of Audio Software Engineer at Motive Studio, the Iron Man game is being built on Unreal Engine 5. “We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Audio Software Developer to join our dynamic team working on the upcoming AAA Iron Man video game developed with Unreal Engine 5,” the job ad reads.

The engine’s name is also mentioned explicitly in the listing’s responsibilities and qualifications sections. Interestingly, job listings earlier this year also suggested that the game is being developed using Epic Games’ toolset.

Of course, that would mean the Iron Man title will be the first game by Motive Studio to not be using EA’s internal Frostbite engine, which was crafted by DICE. Star Wars Battlefront 2 – which Motive Studio developed the single player campaign for – was built on Frostbite, as were Star Wars Squadrons and the aforementioned Dead Space remake, which launched earlier this year.

Other job listings for open positions at Motive have also suggested the Iron Man game could be an pen world experience.
