EA has just revealed its financial earnings report for its latest quarter, and it seems to have been an uncharateristically bright financial quarter for them.
Of all the games that EA published or distributed in the three months covered by this report, three of them- Portal 2, Dragon Age 2 and Dead Space 2- have hit 2 million units sold worldwide. Crysis 2, Crytek’s maligned sequel to their uber popular 2007 PC exclusive hit Crysis, has sold 3 million copies as well.
In addition, EA announced that FIFA 11, last year’s seminal soccer sim, was nearing 15 million units sold and Battlefield: Bad Company 2 was hitting 9 million.
“This was another solid quarter driven by both digital and packaged goods,” commented CEO John Riccitiello.
“We saw strong digital revenue growth over the prior year. On packaged goods, NCAA is off to a great start and pre-orders for Battlefield 3 are tracking extremely well.”
He has a point- Battlefield 3’s pre orders are allegedly double that of Bad Company 2, and Star Wars: The Old Republic has set a pre-order record for EA.
