Shortly after formally unveiling it, EA Sports has released a new gameplay deep dive video for EA Sports FC 25, offering new details on some of the biggest changes, improvements, and tweaks we can expect from the on-pitch gameplay in the upcoming football sim. The focus this year seems to be on tactics, with a new system that’s been dubbed FC IQ.

EA Sports says FC IQ will affect the gameplay in each of the game’s modes in unique ways, including Career Mode, Clubs, and Ultimate Team. FC IQ will, in a nutshell, allow players much finer control over the tactics of their team, allowing you to create fluid and flexible systems that can change on the fly during a match.

A particularly interesting new introduction that falls under larger the FC IQ system is that of Player Roles, which will be familiar to anyone who’s played the Football Manager games. In addition to positions, you’ll now also be deciding between various different player roles for the players that you pick, with different players being differently suited to play as certain roles.

Several other improvements are confirmed for the gameplay as well, including the introduction of tactical fouls, improvements to the HyperMotion technology, new PlayStyles (including for goalkeepers), new skill moves, visual enhancements on the presentation front, and more. Check out the video below for more details.

EA Sports FC 25 launches on September 27 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
