There’s two things we associate with FromSoftware titles more than anything else- maddening difficulty and excellent boss fights. Their next title, Elden Ringis promising to be fairly different from their previous works (and not just because George R.R. Martin is involved)- but one way it won’t be deviating is with its boss fights.

In an interview with Xbox Wire, Hidetaka Miyazaki, head of FromSoftware and director of the upcoming Elden Ring, got asked about boss fights and what fans can expect from the game in that area, and his answer did not disappoint, with Miyazaki saying that there’s going to be plenty of “unique and horrifying” bosses in the game.

“Yes, of course,” said Miyazaki when asked if Elden Ring will feature intense boss fights similar to previous From titles. “Boss fights are something we enjoy making and make up one of the climaxes to this title as well. We feel there is a wide variety of unique and horrifying bosses for players to look forward to.”

Miyazaki has also confirmed that Elden’s Ring gameplay is based quite a bit on Dark Souls. It’s been described as a dark fantasy open world RPG– read more on that through here. Meanwhile, if you’re wondering what the hell “Elden Ring” even means, head here to find out.
