F1 24 is promising several key gameplay improvements both on and off the track, and when it comes to the former, it’s placing particular emphasis on a suite of new features and systems that are collectively dubbed the new Dynamic Handling System.

From an overhauled power unit settings system and improved aerodynamics work to an entirely new suspension kinematics system and changing the fundamental properties of the chassis for more realistic weight distribution, there’s a lot that F1 24’s Dynamic Handling will entail, and according to senior creative director Lee Mather, it will “represent a significant shift in the racing experience”, particularly for those who prefer to play with as few assists enabled as possible.

“This year we set ourselves the goal to push multiple areas of the handling and on-track model to add depth and player agency to both the driving and the set-up of the car, and really push the authenticity of our aero, tyre and power unit modelling,” Mather told GamingBolt in a recent interview.

“The new EA Sports Handling System represents a significant shift in the racing experience, particularly for seasoned fans who prefer minimal or no assists while playing,” he added. “Our goal with these changes is to recreate the authenticity of driving an F1 car in real life. We’ve received very positive feedback from those in the sport so we’re confident we’re on the right track.”

Earlier this month, EA Sports released a new deep dive trailer for F1 24, offering new details on its selection of courses, Career mode, the new Fanzone, and more. Check it out through here.

F1 24 launches on May 31 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Our full interview with Mather will be live soon, so stay tuned for that.
