Rumours of a Fable 4 being developed by Playground Games have frequented headlines for well over couple of years at this point, to the point that it’s become something of an open secret. With the Xbox Series X launching later this year, Playground’s long-in-development unannounced open world RPG is the game that has tickled audiences’ curiosity the most, and it’s quite likely that we might end up seeing it soon.
Just recently, in fact, Microsoft applied for a trademark renewal for Fable– while that by itself is nothing to pay too much mind to, it’s worth noting that in the application, they have stated their intent to use the trademark in the coming future.
A trademark renewal application by itself doesn’t mean much – companies do it all the time, even for properties in disuse – but the Fable rumours have refused to go away. Last year around E3, Fable 4’s name popped up on Microsoft’s soon-to-be-defunct streaming platform in Mixer. Though there was no E3 this year, many have speculated that the rumoured Fable game will be revealed at the Xbox Series X first party showcase later this month.
