Far Cry 5 First Week Sales More Than Double Those of Far Cry 4

Over half the sales were digital.

Far Cry 5 launched last week, and apparently, it has been a huge success for Ubisoft. In a press release, the publisher confirmed that the newest entry in their globe trotting first person action adventure series has sold through more than double what Far Cry 4 did back in late 2014.

The game has actually managed to set several notable milestones along the way, too—it’s now Ubisoft’s second highest launch of all time (behind only The Division), while over 50% of all game sales for it came digitally—an amazing ratio for a major AAA game that I am sure other publishers will try and look at emulating.

Unfortunately, we don’t have any actual sales numbers for the game, since Ubisoft has very carefully avoided mentioning these—but there is no doubt the game has done really remarkably well in the end. Far Cry 5 is available now on PS4, Xbox one, and PC.
