Fate Extella and Nintendo Switch Top Charts in Japan in New Media Create Charts

Sushi Strikers didn't do as well...

Wednesday is here, which means we have another fresh round of video game hardware and software charts for Japan from Media Create. And, as has been the case with almost every single week since it first launched, the Switch topped the hardware charts, having sold 40,834 units, which is more than what every other system sold put together. PS4 came in at second place with 18,000 units, while the 3DS, at just under 7,000 units, came in third.

The PS4 and PS Vita versions of Fate Extella were first and second respectively on the software charts. Dark Souls Remastered and Detroit saw remarkably good holds last week; on the Nintendo front, it was (takes a deep breath) Splatoon 2, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Super Mario Odyssey, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, and Kirby: Star Allies. New Nintendo launch Sushi Strikers did not do well at all, selling less than 8,000 units across the 3DS and Switch versions put together.

With the upcoming launch of games like Mario Tennis and Octopath, we should hopefully see software charts begin to pick up in Japan over the coming months.
