When Microsoft announced the Xbox One back in May, one thing they made a point of establishing was that FIFA, EA Sports’ beloved soccer sim series, would be getting exclusive content for the all popular Ultimate Team mode, on the Xbox One. To people who don’t play the games, that probably did not seem like a big deal, but it can single handedly make the Xbox One the console of choice for playing FIFA- a massive deal in Europe.
Now, it looks like Microsoft is trying to press its advantage further. MVC reports that in an effort to win over Europe, which, outside of UK and Germany, has been PlayStation land, Microsoft will announce that FIFA 14 will come bundled for free with every Xbox One console sold in the territory. This will make its price increase over the PlayStation 4 by £80 a little less steep.
Both EA and Microsoft declined to comment on the story, naturally, but if this were to be true, it would be a big deal and a massive coup for Microsoft. We’ll see.
