FIFA 18 On Nintendo Switch Is Being Developed By The Main Development Team, Is A ‘Custom Version’

Please don't let that be a euphemism for 'heavily downgraded.'

FIFA 18 is the only game for the Nintendo Switch that EA is ready to commit to yet- but we’re not actually sure how much effort is being put into the game at this point. EA has confirmed that the EA Sports team at Vancouver – the main FIFA development team, that is – is the one that is working on FIFA for Switch.

However, EA still won’t clarify whether or not the Switch version of FIFA will be a Frostbite powered version, which at this point makes me think it won’t be. All EA’s Peter Moore says is that the Switch version will be a ‘custom version.’ Whether that means that it will be adapted to the Switch’s unique control schemes, or that it will have unique modes, or simply that it won’t be a Frostbite version, but will simply be the minimum possible that they can put on the Switch and call it a day, remains to be seen.

FIFA 18 is due out later this year on Xbox One, PS4, PC, and Nintendo Switch.
