Final Fantasy 15 On PS4 And Xbox One Will Have Realistic Monsters

I'm not sure how I feel about this.

Final Fantasy 15

Personally, I’m actually fairly pumped for the upcoming Final Fantasy XV, which seems to be a return to form for Square Enix’s beleaguered series after nearly a decade of missteps, and a return to the spirit of classic Final Fantasy games. That said, if DualShockers‘ speculation is to be believed, then this newest tidbit about the game actually deflates my hype a little.

Their speculation is based on a career listing for the game, for an animator, which seems to imply that Square Enix is looking at creating ‘realistic’ monsters for the game, which have realistic proportions and all function as part of an in game ecology, making complete sense in context of the game’s universe.

There is nothing inherently wrong with any of this, but I find that a lot of the spectacle and charm of the Final Fantasy games comes from the massive and unlikely creatures that exist and defy logic and sense- limiting them to ‘realism’ seems to be purposely holding back on a lot of creativity and imagination.

We’ll see, I guess.
