#11. Necrophobe

final fantasy 16 necrophobe

This spectral entity is encountered during Final Fantasy 16’s Fire in the Sky quest, and most notable of the Necrophobe is its wide range of attacks and elemental control. Beginning with a spinning charge attack, Necrophobe zips across the arena in an admittedly well telegraphed attack pattern. However, it’s goal is to land up close and personal with Clive so it can unleash it’s spinning sword-like attack, hurling dangerous blades diagonally upwards. There’re a handful of different projectile attacks which Necrophobe resorts to in keeping Clive at bay, and these aren’t all necessarily distinguishable in the windup animation forcing Clive to react lightning quick to whatever orb the Necrophobe chooses is already hurtling towards him. The Necrophobe encounter is a great test of a key aspect of FF16’s combat – dodging.
