Final Fantasy VII Remake Will Probably Not Launch in 2016

I mean, it was too much of a long shot to expect it to launch this year anyway.

Final Fantasy 7 Remake

With Final Fantasy 15 already confirmed to be launching this year, it was always going to be a long shot to expect that the Final Fantasy 7 remake would be launching this year, too- after all, why would any sensible company blow two of their big ones in one year like that, possibly risking one cannibalizing the other in the process? But Square Enix is not a sensible company, and Final Fantasy 7 fans are an optimistic lot, so there was still some hope.

Square Enix producer Yoshinori Kitase recently shared information about the game’s development in the newest issue of Japanese magazine Famitsu (translation by Siliconera), where he confirmed that he anticipates 2016 to be a ‘year of preparation’ for the game.

“I believe that this year will still be a year of preparations for Final Fantasy 7 Remake,” shared Kitase. “I’d like to create a new kind of value for the hardware that is the PlayStation 4 for our next announcement.”

The Final Fantasy 7 Remake will be launching on the PS4, though it is also expected to come to other systems in the future.
