After ending their popular Dark Souls trilogy on a high note with the just released Dark Souls 3, From Software have announced that they are already working on their next project– one that they intend to launch some time next year. This new IP will be multiplatform too, coming to the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PC, and PlayStation VR- that’s right, now we can play From’s unique brand of choppy 30FPS action in VR! I’m excited!

In all seriousness, what this new IP is remains to be seen- my only hope is that the studio uses this chance to step away from the Souls formula, which they have used five separate times since the release of Demon’s Souls in 2009, to do something compelling and fresh- they are a talented studio, and they should exercise their creativity, as opposed to being shackled to existing IPs and gameplay styles.

Hopefully we get an announcement for this new IP at E3 this year- and hopefully it is as unexpected and fresh as Demon’s Souls was seven years ago.
