The Wii U’s dismal sales performance at retail over the last year is not news, and is, indeed, a tired point of discussion by now. However, things might be about to change for the struggling console, at least on the software front, with the anticipated release of the upcoming The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD, the remake of the timeless GameCube classic from nearly ten years ago.
MyNintendoNews reports that Gamestop is all sold out of the Collector’s Edition bundle for The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD, which included not just the game, but also a limited collectible Ganondorf figurine. It retails for $55 over the $50 that the base game retails for, so the incremental increase in price might also have to do with that.
Sales of just the game indicate nothing (indeed, it is entirely possible that it is just selling to those who already owned the console), but then again, interest in the game could spell good news for Nintendo on the hardware front as well, given that it will be sold bundled with the now price dropped Wii U console starting September 20.
Stay tuned to GamingBolt for further coverage of the game and of Nintendo’s console.
