Corner shooting with your phone for the win?

Painkiller developer The Farm 51 has finally announced Get Even, its next generation shooter which aims to combine multiplayer and single-player by allowing real-life players to take on the role of real enemies in the game. Check out the first official trailer above.

The Farm 51 explained that the plot revolves around two intertwined narratives, and that the route taken by players throughout the campaign will determine the character’s personality, throwing elements of horror and thrillers into the mix to make things more tense. Environments are also scanned in to make them more feel more realistic and expansive.

There aren’t many story features revealed except that there would be two narratives being intertwined together with a campaign that will ultimately determine your character. It’s meant to be fairly realistic though with horror and thriller elements thrown in. As for the gameplay, you’ll somehow be able to sync your smartphone with your guns in order to utilize “corner shots”. It’s intriguing, for sure.

The Farm 51 CEO Wojtek Pazdur stated that, “As an independent developer, it would be foolish to go head-to-head with the larger companies and create a ‘me too’ knock-off, and frankly we wouldn’t be interested in doing it. We believe that there is still a ton of content and design creativity that has yet to be explored in first-person genre, as well as an audience beyond the warfare player – those are the people we are going for with Get Even.”

Get Even is set to release for next-gen titles and PC in 2015.
