Onimusha: Warlords

Here’s another glitch that spawned a whole video game IP like the Team Fortress mod from Quake. Developers Capcom were working on Onimusha: Warlords, an action-adventure title about ninjas. While developing combat moves, they encountered a glitch that could allow players to launch enemies into the air and continue attacking them non-stop. The developers loved the idea but unfortunately they felt it wasn’t right for Onimusha: Warlords. Instead, they tucked the idea away for their next video game installment, Resident Evil 4.

Shortly into Resident Evil 4, developers felt that the gameplay mechanics were far too different than what gamers of the franchise had become accustomed to. Rather than throwing away all their work, Capcom came up with a brand new IP based on the fast-paced combat and lengthy attacks. Thanks to that little attack glitch, we now have the Devil May Cry series.
