Nacon and Spiders finally revealed a new trailer for GreedFall 2: The Dying World alongside the surprising announcement of early access. The action RPG will be available for PC players via Steam Early Access this Summer and features the entire beginning of the game, as revealed by the developer in a post-Nacon Connect livestream.

Producer Reba Isber also explained (transcription via PC Gamer) the decision to go for early access. “GreedFall 2 is certainly a much more ambitious game than the first one. Early access seemed like the right path to take. We’re relying heavily on early access to collect player feedback and see if we’re heading in the right direction.”

Studio CEO Jehanne Rousseau, who served as lead writer for the first game, also cited the combat system as another reason. Players can control all their allies this time, and there are some things to work out. “It’s not turn-based, but you still have this kind of control over your team, and for this specific reason, having the feedback of the player was super important – because it’s something new. We never did these types of controls before.”

Isber revealed that players in early access will explore “new environments” and that the team has updates planned for regular intervals. It’s confirmed that saves won’t carry over between updates (much like Baldur’s Gate 3 during its early access period).

GreedFall 2: The Dying World is also coming to PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. Stay tuned for more details on its progress and updates on early access.
