Half Life 3 to be revealed at E3? Looks likely if we apply Numerology

Posted By | On 30th, Apr. 2012

Okay, people. This is a little absurd but makes a little sense. Why I felt this was worth covering because a similar thing happened with Diablo 3. Here’s how a Redditor guessed the proper date for Diablo 3 two months before Blizzard officially announced it.

From what I can tell the anniversary website was up around 2:30 PST today. Assuming that the week starts Monday(cause seriously who really considers Sunday the first day of the week) the site was live 62.5 hours into the week.

100% * 62.5 / (24 * 7) gives us that that the site was released 37.2% of the way through the week.

0.372 * 366 days this year = Diablo 3 will be released 136.16 days in to the year.

Calling it now, Diablo 3 will be released on May 15th which just so happens to be a Tuesday! Clearly my logic is flawless and this is the only possible release date.

Can that happen with Half-Life 3? Well according to this new calculation via Kotaku, looks like it. It remains to be seen if the magic of Diablo 3’s prediction be replicated again, but if it does, let it be known: numbers are awesome!

Here’s the calculation for Half-Life 3:

Gabe Newell’s Rank on Forbes’ Richest Men List: 864

Years between HL and HL2: 7 Years
Years between HL2 and L4D2: 5 Years
Years between L4D2 and Portal 2: 3 Years
Total: 753

864 – 753 = 111

1 + 1 + 1 = 3

3 = HL3 or Episode 3 (or E3)
