When it comes to talking about first person shooters, Halo is one of the undeniable heavy hitters that most gamers hold in high esteem. Another thing that’s equally respected amongst first person shooters is frame rate, most notably the sweet 60fps mark that all but ensures the smoothest and most fluid gameplay experience it’s possible to get.

On that note, Josh Holmes, Head of Internal Development at 343 Industries has said that shooting for 60fps (pun intended) was an easy choice that lead to rebuilding most of the games engine. He said, “”Coming to Xbox One we wanted to go and re-architect the engine. We also made the decision to go to 60FPS which meant going back and re-engineering all our gameplay systems from the ground up to focus on that. So we’ve got new material system, new lighting system, new physics, new AI, dedicated servers.”

Halo 5 Guardians will release sometime next year in 2015, exclusively for the Xbox One. It is touted to be next year’s mega title unless Microsoft releases the new Gears of War in 2015. What are your thoughts on this? Let us know in the comments section below.
