The PlayStation 3 finally gets HBO’s companion media streaming app, HBO Go, is finally coming to the PlayStation 3 today in North America, the Official PlayStation Blog announced. This means that you can catch all of HBO’s biggest hits, past and present, such as The Sopranos, The Wire, Game of Thrones, True Detective, and so on, on your PlayStation 3 now.

This marks the first appearance of HBO’s app on PlayStation hardware- previously, it had been limited to the Xbox line, and indeed, the Xbox 360, exclusively. Sony has announced that this is essentially the opening of floodgates though, as they revealed that they are working with HBO ‘diligently to bring HBO Go to the PlayStation 4.’ No word yet on whether they will also bring it to the PS Vita, although that would be much appreciated, guys.

HBO Go is currently not on either the Xbox One or the Wii U, though, so at least its absence on the PlayStation 4 isn’t as urgent a matter.
