Hearthstone Heroes of Warcraft

Activision Blizzard confirmed today that the hit card battle game released last year, Hearthstone, has now hit a player count of 30 million worldwide. This news comes from the official Twitter account for the game.

Hearthstone has had a lot of factors that must have contributed to its success- it got rave reviews upon release, it is a game by Blizzard (so of course it was going to be successful), it is free to play, and it is available on PC, Mac, iPhone, Android, iPad, and Android tablets.

Blizzard’s first original game in over a decade, Hearthstone is a delightful card battle game that can instantly pull players into its world and keep them engrossed for hours upon hours on end… without them actually realizing it.

Blizzard’s next new big games include Overwatch and Heroes of the Storm, which are a shooter and MOBA respectively. Whether or not Blizzard can replicate this kind of success for those games remains to be seen.
