Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice will have an interesting conceit, in that the game will apparently be an exploration of the mental health and state of its protagonist, the eponymous Senua. This is a topic rarely approached in video games, but one that definitely needs to be highlighted more across all media- we can only hope that the game treats it with the appropriate respect and sensitivity.
We’ll know either way once the game is out- for now, we have this trailer for the game, a preview of a 25 minute feature that will be included in Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice when it finally launches. I suppose it can at least give us a proper feel for the tone and treatment the story will be going for, if nothing else.
Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice was originally announced all the way back in 2014, during Sony’s Gamescom conference. It releases on August 8 this year at last, for PS4 and PC.
