Perhaps the one thing that must have struck fans of From Software and their previous games (which include the award winning Dark Souls games) was the complete change in setting for their upcoming PlayStation 4 exclusive, Bloodborne. The associated introduction of weapons such as the shotgun led to widespread speculation about what the impact on gameplay would be.

Well, Edge’s cover story for their newest issue is supposed to be Bloodborne, and that cover story tells us a lot about what the gameplay will be like. Including how the new weapons impact gameplay. Such as the shotgun, which, it seems, has a hit cancellation animation, leading to a hitstun, the enemy being disabled, and allowing the opportunity for a follow through combo. In other words, it appears that somehow, against all logic, the shotgun can actually be used as a parrying shield.

Bloodborne is due out on the PlayStation 4 some time next year.
