Here’s your first proper look at The Playroom, which will be pre-installed on all PS4 consoles

Greatness awaits. Camera sold separately.

The Playroom looks like Sony’s version of Wii Sports or AR Games- a fun proof of concept tech demo to help families get familiar to their brand new purchase. Questions about whether it will be as much fun as Wii Sports notwithstanding, Sony announced today that the software will come bundled (pre-installed) on all PlayStation 4 systems. What you can see above is your first proper look at the software and what it entails.

Of course, there is one thing immediately stands out to me- the thing requires the PlayStation Camera to function, and the PlayStation Camera is no longer included with PlayStation 4 (reportedly in an attempt to reach the $400 price), making the Playroom either the most misguided attempt to get users to buy a peripheral that should have been a pack in in the first place, or the most singularly remarkably useless pack in game of all time. Or both.
