Hogwarts Legacy is a game filled with secrets waiting to be discovered and solved. Among them are puzzles, which can range from simple to complex. Door puzzles, in particular, can be challenging and confusing, even after several attempts.
While some players may try to brute force their way through all 12 puzzles, this takes the fun out of the game. This guide provides the correct way to solve the door puzzles, although the rewards are random and unpredictable. So, it’s best not to have any particular expectations before starting. How to solve the the Hogwarts Legacy Door Puzzles
- To solve the door puzzles in Hogwarts Legacy, you need to use simple math.
- There will be two equations on the door, each with a number in the middle, followed by three outer circles connected by a triangle.
- The central number is the sum of all the outer numbers.
- The first number is already revealed, while the second number can be identified from the symbol.
- Subtract the sum of the two outer numbers from the middle value to get the solution, which should be within 0-9.
- Identify the symbol corresponding to the new number and toggle the dials until you have those symbols in sight.
- The left dial is for the first equation, while the right dial is for the bottom equation.

Door Puzzle #1: Central Hall Rafters
- The location is in the Library Annex area.
- Travel to the Divination Classroom Floo Flame.
- Turn around and enter the rafter above the Central Hall.
- Keep going forward along the walkway and turn right.
- Look for a door with a list of all the animal symbols.
- To solve the puzzle, rotate the left dial towards the Weird Owl.
- Rotate the right dial towards the Three-headed Snake.
Door Puzzle #2 & #3: Arithmancy Classroom
To enter the other two doors in the Library Annex area, follow these steps:
First Door:
- Rotate the left dial towards the Wired Owl.
- Rotate the right dial towards the Spider with a Face.
Second Door:
- Rotate the left dial towards the Lizard.
- Rotate the right dial towards the Unicorn.
Door Puzzle #4: Central Hall
- In the Annex Region, head over to the Potions Classroom Floo Flame.
- Turn around and you’ll see the puzzle door a few steps away.
- To solve the puzzle door, rotate the left dial towards the Spider.
- Rotate the right dial towards the Three-headed Snake.
Door Puzzle #5: Long Gallery
- Enter the Potions Classroom Floo Flame.
- Head left down the stairs and continue until you reach a locked level one door.
- Open the door and travel down the Long Gallery until you reach a wide open space with a puzzle door to your left.
- To solve the puzzle door, rotate the left dial towards the Tentacle Goat.
- Rotate the right dial towards the Unicorn.
Door Puzzle #6: Charms Classroom
- To reach puzzle no. 6 in the Astronomy Wing area, fast travel to the Charms Classroom Floo Flame.
- Turn around and look for a passage just around the corner.
- Follow the passage to the left until you find the puzzle door.
- To solve the first door, rotate the left dial towards the Tentacle Goat.
- Rotate the right dial towards the One-eyed Squid.
Door Puzzle #7: Ravenclaw Tower
- To reach puzzle no. 7 in the Grand Staircase region, fast travel to the Ravenclaw Tower Floo Flame.
- Proceed to run down the corridor and keep looking towards your right.
- You’ll eventually notice the puzzle door.
- To solve the first door, rotate the left dial towards the Wired Owl.
- Rotate the right dial towards the Spider with a Face.
Door Puzzle #8: Grand Staircase
- Fast travel to the Grand Staircase Tower Floo Flame to reach puzzle no. 8.
- Head down the stairs until you come across a set of doors located on the outer wall of the staircase.
- To solve the first door, rotate the left dial towards the Lizard.
- Rotate the right dial towards the One-eyed Squid.
Door Puzzle #9: Near the Hourglasses
- To reach puzzle no. 9 in the Grand Staircase area, use the Grand Staircase Floo Flame.
- Head up the stairs, take a right, and double back up the next set of stairs.
- Once you reach the end, you’ll find the doors on the left.
- To solve the first door, rotate the left dial towards the Furry Creatures with Eyebrows.
- Rotate the right dial towards the Spider with a Face.
Door Puzzle #10: Faculty Tower
- To access this puzzle door in the South Wing area, you’ll need The Caretaker’s Lunar Lament quest.
- Fast travel to the Faculty Tower Floo Flame and unlock the Faculty Tower during the quest.
- The door can be found on the next floor up from the entrance, but you may need to distract a prefect to access it.
- To solve the first door, rotate the left dial towards the Furry Creatures with Eyebrows, and the right dial towards the Hydra.
Door Puzzle #11: The Great Hall
- Puzzle no. 11 is located in the Great Hall area.
- To reach the door, use the Great Hall Floo Flame and head towards the left.
- Go around the pillar and continue towards the end of the corridor until you find the puzzle door.
- To solve the first door, rotate the left dial towards the Spider and the right dial towards the Three-headed Snake.
Door Puzzle #12: North Hall
- The final puzzle door is situated in the Astronomy Wing.
- To reach the door, use the Transfiguration Classroom Floo Flame for fast travel.
- Once you arrive, go to the doors at the back of the classroom and enter the North Hall.
- Head up the stairs until you reach the top floor and find the level one locked door.
- Open the door and proceed down the corridor until you see the puzzle door on your left.
- To solve the first door, turn the left dial towards the Lizard and the right dial towards the Three-headed Snake.
