Hogwarts Legacy Guide – Collection Chests and Their Locations

Throughout your journey in Hogwarts Legacy, you’ll come across Collection Chests that contain a variety of useful items and equipment. These chests are scattered across the game’s regions, and there are a total of 155 to discover. However, the rewards are randomized every time, so you never know what you might find inside. If you’re struggling to find all of them or just want a little help, this guide has got you covered. It provides the locations of some of the chests in each region, making your search a little easier.

Collection Chests in Hogwarts Grounds

Alchemy Class

• Begin at the Bell Tower Courtyard Floo Flame.
• Turn left and ascend the stairs.
• Enter through the door directly ahead.
• Descend the steps and enter through another door.
• Keep going down until you see a dragon statue.
• Take a right turn from the statue and head down the corridor.
• There will be a locked door straight ahead.
• Use Level 2 Alohomora to unlock the door.
• You will enter a room with many cauldrons.
• The Collection Chest will be located towards the right.

Viaduct Entrance

• To find the Collection Chest from the Divination Classroom Floo Flame, go up the wooden steps and follow the walkway until you reach a right turn.
• The Collection Chest is located behind a puzzle door. Solve the simple Arithmancy Puzzle where each animal symbol represents a different number. The middle number is the summation of all the numbers and symbols surrounding it.
• The second Collection Chest is locked behind a door in the second Arithmancy Class. Walk down the corridor until you reach the classroom. Solve the puzzle to unlock the door and access the Collection Chest.
• To find the third Collection Chest, go further down the corridor and enter the third classroom. Solve the puzzle to unlock the door to get the treasure.

Bell Tower

• Start at the Bell Tower Floo Flame and ascend the stairs.
• Continue ascending until you come across a music room.
• Go to the back left corner and keep climbing using the stairs until you reach the balcony.
• Go around to the right, where the Collection Chest will be waiting for you.
• For the second chest, follow the steps mentioned above until you reach the balcony.
• Look to your right, and you’ll see a frog statue.
• Interact with it, and it will transport you to the opposite tower.
• The Collection Chest will be on the right, a few steps ahead.
• Follow the above instructions for the third chest.
• After you reach the opposite building, instead of going right, walk a few steps ahead and take a left around the corner.

Central Hall

• Begin at the Central Hall Floo Flame.
• Head down the stairs and turn left from the fountain.
• Descend the steps to the right until you see a puzzle door.
• Solve the equations to unlock the door and access the Collection Chest.

Charms Classroom

• Start at the Charms Classroom Floo Flame
  Head down the steps and enter the Charms classroom to the right
  Look to the left as you enter the room
  You’ll see a set of stairs leading up to a locked door
  Use Alohomora to unlock the door
  Go up the spiral staircase
  Once you reach the top, enter the door
  You’ll find the Collection Chest

Clock Tower

• To acquire the Collection Chest, you must first learn the Arresto Momentum spell.
• Head to the Hospital Wing Floo Flame and turn right towards the clock tower.
• Descend the stairs and cross the mechanism, then head down to the next floor.
• Look for a door with a metal grate.
• Turn left and match the symbol on the door with the swinging pendulum to open it.
• When the pendulum reaches the top of the second symbol, use Arresto Momentum.
• Quickly enter the door and grab everything from the Collection Chest before exiting.
• Don’t forget to sweep the room for the second chest, located towards the right.

Defense Against the Dark Arts Tower

• To find the first Collection Chest, start at the Charms Classroom Floo Flame and go around the corner to find the puzzle door.
• Solve the equation on the puzzle door to enter the room and get the Collection Chest.
• For the second chest, go to the Transfiguration Courtyard Floo Flame and enter the tower facing right.
• Look for a locked door, and use Alohomora level 2 to open it.
• The Collection Chest will be in the room.

Faculty Tower

First Chest:

• Start from the Clock Tower Courtyard Floo Flame and enter the door.
• Walk through the corridor and up the stairs.
• Interact with the frog statue to teleport to another room.
• Use Lumos to see and find the Collection Chest on the right.

Second Chest:

• This location is only accessible after completing the Main Quest – The Caretaker’s Lunar Lament.
• Go to the Faculty Tower Floo Flame and enter the door to your right.
• Head up the stairs and solve the puzzle door equation to enter.
• Find the Collection Chest in the room.

Third Chest:

• Return to the Faculty Tower Floo Flame and go through the private faculty area.
• Take the stairs and climb two floors.
• Enter the door next to the jeweled tortoise shell and cast Glacius on the fireplace fire.
• Ascend and crawl through the stairs to find the hidden room.
• Cross the room to get the Collection Chest.

Grand Staircase

To get the first chest:

• Start from the Grand Staircase Floo Flame.
• Go up the stairs and take a right.
• Keep climbing until you see a puzzle door on the left.
• Solve the equation to open the door and get the Collection Chest.

To get the second chest:

• Return to the Grand Staircase Floo Flame.
• Go down one flight of stairs instead of going up.
• Solve the puzzle door on the left and grab the Collection Chest inside.

Great Hall

• Starting from the Great Hall Floo Flame, turn left twice to reach a puzzle door.
• Solve the puzzle to open the door and get the first Collection Chest.
• For the second chest, return to the Great Hall Floo Flame and head towards the western wall of the hall.
• Use Alohomora to unlock the door and collect the second Collection Chest located on the left side of the room.

Kitchens

To reach the Collection Chest in the Kitchen, start from the Grand Staircase Floo Flame and descend the spiral staircase to the right. At the bottom, locate the fruit painting on the left and interact with it to reveal a secret door. Go through the door and you’ll find the Collection Chest at the back of the Kitchen, beside a cabinet.

Library – Restricted Area

• The Collection Chest can be found during the Main Quest – Secrets of the Restricted Section.
• While moving through the restricted area, you’ll reach a dark room.
• The chest can be found on a table in that room.

Long Gallery

• Go to the Bell Tower Courtyard FlooFlames
• Turn around and enter the large wooden door
• Head down the stairs until you find a puzzle door
• Solve the puzzle to open the door and access the Collection Chest located at the back of the room.

North Hall

• Starting at the Bell Tower Courtyard Floo Flames, go up the stairs and through the doors.
• Continue going up until you find a locked door.
• Use Alohomora to unlock the door.
• Inside, you’ll come across a puzzle door.
• Solve the puzzle to gain access to the Collection Chest located on the right side of the room.

Ravenclaw Tower

From the Ravenclaw Tower Floo Flame, move towards the right until you come across a puzzle door. Solve the equation to get access to the Collection Chest.

Viaduct

• From the Central Hall Floo Flames, head upstairs and exit through the large doors.
• Proceed across the bridge, where you’ll find four braziers.
• Use Confringo or Incendio spells to light all four braziers.
• Locate the grate on the floor with four symbols and numbers, one corresponding to each brazier.
• Interact with each symbol to match it with the appropriate number shown on the corresponding brazier.
• The grate will open once you have correctly matched all four symbols and numbers, allowing you to climb down to the lower level where the first Collection Chest is located.
• There is also a second Collection Chest located inside the room.

Hogsmeade

North of Honeydukes

• Begin at the North Hogsmeade Floo Flame
• Walk straight up the path out of the square
• Look towards the right and you will see a small house with a locked door
• Use level 3 Alohomora to unlock the door
• Once inside, locate the Collection Chest at the foot of the bed.

South of Hogsmeade

• Begin at the South of Hogsmeade Floo Flame
• Turn around and head towards the house directly behind the Floo Flames
• Proceed to the right of the house
• Use Alohomora (level 3) to unlock the door
• Enter the house and go upstairs
• Look for the Collection Chest sitting at the bed.

Spire Alley

• Begin at the South of Hogsmeade Floo Flame
• Head towards the right and follow the path to the left
• Notice the small house to your right with a locked door
• Use level 3 Alohomora to unlock the door
• Gather the Collection Chest inside the house.

The three Broomsticks

• Begin at the South of Hogsmeade Floo Flame
• Travel northwest towards the Three Broomsticks
• Enter the Three Broomsticks and head up the stairs
• Look for a locked door along the way
• Cast Alohomora to unlock the door
• Gather the Collection Chest inside the room.

Hogsmeade Valley

Overlook Mine

To find the first Collection Chest in the Overlook Mine during the Main Quest – Shadow of the Mine:

• After sliding down to a new location, head towards the left and continue walking
• Look for a massive cobweb blocking the way
• Use a burning spell like Incendio or Confringo to burn it away
• Proceed to the next room to find the Collection Chest.

To find the second Collection Chest:

• Defeat the first set of spiders and enter the narrow passage
• Keep Devil’s Snare from obstructing the way
• Continue till you find a small space containing the Collection Chest.

South Hogwarts Region

Lower Hogsfield

To find the two Collection Chests:

• Start at the Lower Hogsfield Floo Flame
• Enter the village and continue along the edge of the lake
• Look for an upturned cart where the first Collection Chest is located
• To find the second Collection Chest, return to the Floo Flame and enter the village again
• Follow the cobbled path
• The path will lead to a house and you will find the second Collection Chest next to a vendor.

Hogwarts Valley

The Mine’s Eye

To locate the Collection Chests during the All Gobbledegook Main Quest:

• Head up the stairs
• You will come across an interactable crate, use Depulso on it and crawl through the tunnel to find the first Collection Chest
• To find the second Collection Chest, light a boiler to the right and exit the door
• Pull the lever to bring down the elevator and use it to get to the floor above
• Follow the path and take a left turn, then another left before going up the steps
• Look for a locked door, use Level 2 Alohomora to unlock it, and collect the Collection Chest on the left side.
