Hollow Knight: Silksong Has Been Rated by the ESRB

The long-awaited Metroidvania sequel is still without a release date. It's in development for PlayStation, Xbox, Switch, and PC.

When Hollow Knight: Silksong will come out is a question that’s plagued many a fan for several years running, and though a release date for the highly anticipated Metroidvania sequel remains unknown, recent developments have indicated that we might just be edging closer to hearing more details on that front.

Recently, an official Xbox Store page finally went live for Hollow Knight: Silksongallowing Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One owners to wishlist the game. That, in and of itself, has seemed significant to fans who have been desperate for information on a game that’s remained fairly secretive during its development period.

On top of that, however, the game’s Xbox Store page also displays an ESRB rating of E10+, citing “fantasy violence” and “mild blood”. Age ratings for games tend to come late in their development process, when all the content for ratings boards to analyse is largely representative of what the final product will be. This could potentially indicate that Hollow Knight: Silksong is (finally) in the final stretch.

It’s worth noting, however, that though an ESRB rating is mentioned on the game’s Xbox Store page, one hasn’t been published on ESRB’s own official website at the time of this report’s publication.

Hollow Knight: Silksong is in development for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC, and will also be available via Game Pass at launch.
