Is Nintendo Italy Teasing a New Donkey Kong Game?

Is a new Donkey Kong game incoming?

Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze

The Donkey Kong series is in fairly good shape right now—Donkey Kong Country Returns did great when it launched on the Wii (and later on the 3DS), and Tropical Freeze was fantastic on the Wii U. While not a lot of people played it then, it is getting a release on the Switch soon, which gives that an opportunity to change.

But there may be a new title in the franchise incoming as well—Nintendo’s Italian account recently made a rather cryptic but telling post on Instagram, saying only that “there is no two without three”, accompanied by a picture of Donkey Kong. For those who don’t understand how this could indicate a new game, there have so far been two Donkey Kong games in the Retro led revival—Nintendo Italy could simply be teasing a new one.

Adding more fuel to the fire is the fact that the post in question was deleted—why would that be? Did Nintendo simply realize it might be misconstrued, and removed it? Or did they realize they may have shown a bit too much of their hand too early? E3 cannot come soon enough.
