Japanese Sales Charts: 3DS Outsells PSP, Tales of the Abyss Tops Software Charts

The 3DS has had it rough, and that’s no secret. After a record setting launch, it has struggled in all regions, consistently being outsold by the PSP, and sometimes even the DS, everywhere. Thankfully, that trend seems to be changing, as the recent sales spike that the 3DS got from the release of Ocarina seems to be more than just a spurt- in Japan, at least, it seems to be a sustained rise in sales levels.

The Media Create charts for video game sales in Japan for the week 27th June-3rd July see the 3DS coming out on the top- if only narrowly- in the hardware race. The 3DS version of Namco’s PS2 classic Tales of the Abyss comes out on the top in software charts. Other interesting developments include Zelda 3DS crossing 200,000 copies sold, the PS3 absolutely trouncing all competition in the consoles market, Pokemon Black and White finally falling down to #20, and the PSP Go selling only seven units nationwide.
