If you’ve grown tired of all the disheartening news about layoffs in the gaming world, there’s a story of resilience that could light things up for you. It certainly did for us.
Nearly a week after Dark Outlaw Games was shut down by Sony, its founder, Jason Blundell (whom you might know from Call of Duty: Zombies), is back again with another studio. He is joined by his former colleague, JCbackfire, a constant presence in a rather turbulent couple of years following Deviation’s closure back in 2024.
Blundell’s refusal to back down in the face of adversity is indeed a beacon for the rest of the gaming world as it reels from a multitude of issues that have left talented people in the lurch. “Third time’s the charm. And if not, it’s the fourth time.”
That’s quite the quote, and one that might go down in history if Blundell manages to finally make the video game of his dreams under the banner of this latest venture. Whether it’s going to feature ideas from the mystery project he was working on at Dark Outlaw remains to be seen. However, we’re definitely rooting for a man who clearly sees obstacles as yet another opportunity to succeed.
