The nominees for this year’s D.I.C.E. Awards have been revealed, and Journey, as expect, has received top honors, getting nominated in 11 categories, including PS3 Game of the Year and Overall GOTY 2012.

Far Cry 3 and The Walking Dead have also been recognized as the top games of 2012, receiving 7 and 8 nominations respectively.

Halo 4, Borderlands 2 and Dishonored have five nominations each. The Game of the Year category includes Borderlands 2, Far Cry 3, The Walking Dead, and XCOM: Enemy Unknown.

Martin Rae, president of the Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences said: “As I look at the list of the 2012 finalist games, there is no doubt in my mind that every single nominated title strongly reflects the D.I.C.E. Awards moniker – Design, Innovate, Communicate, Entertain.

“Across all platforms and through deeply immersive experiences, our industry continues to outdo itself year over year, finding new and interesting ways to evolve and engage audiences.”

The awards will be hosted on February 7 in Las Vegas as part of the D.I.C.E. summit.

Nerdist founder Chris Hardwick, who will be hosting the awards this year, said: “The D.I.C.E. Awards are VERY important to me. I have been playing video games since there were video games. I hope there is some type of Dovahkiin Shout that will make sure I don’t mess this up. I will find one! If not, I’ll just look like a psychotic, screaming a**hole leading up to the Awards.”

Hardwick is also known for hosting the talk show, Talking Dead, which airs after every episode of The Walking Dead, as you might have guessed.
