While we still don’t know just when Kingdom Hearts 3 is due to be released, we have been getting a trickle here and a trickle there about what we can expect to see in terms of content. We’re getting these trickles in large part thanks to an interview Tetsuya Nomura recently gave to  Now Gamer (originally published in GamesTM magazine). The game’s director spoke on a wide range of issues during the sit down, speaking on how long he thought the series would go, as well as how many different playable characters might appear in Kingdom Hearts 3.

“In the first game there was one playable character, in the second there were two – will there be three in the third?” The website asked the director and his response was “It’s a secret but by saying that we imply that maybe something’s going on. We can’t disclose anything but, maybe, something will happen there.” While that’s certainly not a tacit admission that there might be three different playable characters, as Nomura himself said just by not denying it, it seems as if there’s a very good chance something is brewing.

Kingdom Hearts 3 is one of those games that has managed to stay near the top of the list when it comes to most anticipated games on Famitsu for quite a while now. It’s a safe bet that if the game did feature three playable characters, that would be another reason for people to get quite excited about the title. We’ll just have to see when Nomura can talk more about it. Kingdom Hearts 3 does not have an official release date just yet.
