Koei Tecmo has announced restructuring plans, which will see the company establishing a new AAA development studio. The Japanese company says the new studio will be “established as a project independent from existing brands”, and will be focused on the development of “new major titles” (via DeepL).

The new studio, which seems to be unnamed as yet, will be headed up by veteran producer Yosuke Hayashi, who has been involved in the production of the likes of Dead or Alive, Ninja Gaiden, Nioh, Fatal Frame, Hyrule Warriors, and more. Hayashi also directed Metroid: Other M. Koei Tecmo says he will also be serving as executive vice president of the company’s entertainment division.

Koei Tecmo’s most recent output was Rise of the Ronin, developed by Nioh and Ninja Gaiden studio Team Ninja, and published by PlayStation Studios exclusively for PS5. Following the game’s launch, director Fumihiko Yasuda said Team Ninja intends to build on the action RPG’s open world structure with future projects.
