Well, here’s a bolt out of the blue- E3 2019 has seen announcements of new games and updates on older ones and will be seeing a lot more as it continues onward, but this is a bit unexpected. Konami are going to be making a “special announcement” tomorrow.

As spotted by VG247, Gematsu recently updated their E3 schedule for presentations and panels, which shows an end of the day slot reserved for a “Special Announcement” by Konami tomorrow, at 5:30 PM PDT / 8:30 PM EST June 11 / 1:00 AM BST. Considering the title of the panel (if it is indeed a panel) and the fact that it’s going to be a livestream rather than just a regular old press release announcement, it would suggest that it’s not something ordinary. This is Konami, though, who have, with the exception of re-releases and the yearly Pro Evolution Soccer game, pretty much gone out of the business of making games of late, so you can never be too sure.

That said, retailer listings for a new Contra game were spotted very recently, so perhaps there’s some dots to connect there. We’ll know one way or another tomorrow, so stay tuned.
