Kotick: No plans for a Call of Duty movie, firing West and Zampella was “Easy”

That power.

Infinity Ward almost disintegrated back in 2010 after the highly successful Modern Warfare 2 came out. They were removed from the studio, the world was shocked at this development, people didn’t know who was wrong–Activision or these Infinity Ward developers.

Both had a good story, EA was involved too and sued, and in the end Activision was forced to settle later this year.

However, Activision CEO Bobby Kotick has mentioned that removing these guys was an easy decision because of what they did.

“You find out two executives are planning to break their contracts, keep the money you gave them, and steal 40 employees. What do you do? You fire them,” he said.

They did manage to take some employees from Infnity Ward which also made Treyarch the top tier CoD team, although, I’d argue that they always made better games in a way.

The Call of Duty franchise is a juggernaut now and these two devs probably thought Activision wont be able to replicate the success without them, how wrong they were if it was indeed true.
