Layoff rumours see Old Republic producer leave Bioware

Rich Vogel, producer for Bioware’s Star Wars: The Old Republic has left the company admist growing rumours of staff layoffs.

Some rather extensive ‘restructuring’ measures were announced back in May at Bioware, which confirmed that the developer would be letting go of an undisclosed number of staff.

Vogel’s career spans 20 years on some major MMO titles including Ultima Online, Star Wars Galaxies. His executive producer role with Star Wars: The Old Republic was his biggest yet, a game marred by issues after losing over 400,000 paid subscribers in just months, forcing SWTOR to become free-to-play up to Level 15.

There’s currently no news on who will replace Vogel, nor what his future plans may be.
