League of Legends Developer Pledges Negative Players Won’t Be Allowed In Ranked Play

Maybe this will help clean up the community a bit.

League-of-Legends

League of Legends, along with other MOBAs, is known for one thing almost as much as it is known for its improbable international success and its addictive gameplay- it is known for its community, which is comprised in large part of elitists, who are often so hostile and toxic they drive away newcomers.

It looks like Riot Games (the developers of League of Legends) are fully aware of this problem, however, as they have responded to the issue and pledged to ensure that negative players don’t end up in ranked matches.

The system is called Ranked Restrictions- if you’re a League player, you may already be familiar with it, since it’s been in beta for a bit now. Basically, the new system prevents negatively marked players from participating in ranked games unless they have completed the required number of games in normal draft. Ranked Restricted players will also be Chat Restricted in other queues, and will be re-evaluated after finishing the required number of games. If they fail the assessment, they’ll have to go back to the normal draft. Ranked Restricted players will also be ineligible for end of the season rewards.

“While the majority of players will not be affected by this ruling, we wanted to message it well in advance so that players concerned about their behaviour have more than enough time to adjust and reform before the end of the season,” Riot said.
