Lords of the Fallen is this excellent action RPG for PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4, published by Bandai Namco games that looks to follow in the footsteps of From Software’s seminal Dark Souls games. The game’s review embargo lifted last night, and the reviews are in. And it appears that the game, while having merits of its own, definitely falls short of the high standards that are set by From Software.

Game Informer gave the game an 8.5/10, saying ‘A surprisingly solid title that wasn’t even on my radar. While it borrows heavily from the Souls franchise, it’s done well and with its own signature flair. I highly recommend this game to anyone that enjoys that series, and if you haven’t gone down that road before, it might be a more forgiving entry point into the action RPG.’

Generally, that is a sentiment that seems to be echoed across the board- Polygon gave the game a 7.5/10, and Eurogamer gave it 7/10, while IGN gave it a 7.4. GameTrailers rounds up the lot with its 7.3/10. Currently, the Metascore sits at 71.

Stay tuned for more coverage of Lords of the Fallen, especially as the game promises to grow and evolve over the coming days and weeks.
