Though Luigi’s Mansion 3 received new information at E3 2019 and was playable on the E3 showfloor, it was also perhaps the only major upcoming Nintendo Switch exclusive – beyond the new ones that were announced at the show – that didn’t receive a concrete release date. While the likes of Daemon X Machina, The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening, and the delayed Animal Crossing: New Horizons all confirmed release dates, with Luigi’s Mansion 3, all we know for now is that it’ll be out some time in the final quarter of this year.

But why exactly is that? When will Nintendo be announcing a specific release date for the game, especially in light of the fact that Q4 of 2019 isn’t really that far away? As per Nintendo, that’s something that depends on developers Next Level Games. Speaking with Polygon, Nintendo’s senior product marketing manager Bill Trinen said that Nintendo is waiting on the developer to let them know when work on the game is finished before announcing a proper release date.

Trinen said that Next Level Games is “putting a lot of care into the game”, before mentioning, “We want to let them put the care into it they want, so we’re waiting on them to let us know and we’ll solidify the release date.”

Here’s hoping it doesn’t lead to a delayed release. Stay tuned to GamingBolt for more updates on the game.
