Man Of Medan Features 69 Different Character Deaths

Lots of deaths to potentially see.

Man of Medan

When Supermassive Games’ Until Dawn came out, one of the big things that separated it from other games in the ‘narrative-driven’ adventure genre like titles from Telltale and Dontnod was that characters, including major characters, could die and have parts of the story affected by that. It was possible to miss several key sequences in that game depending on how you played. That is carrying over to the spiritual successor, Man of Medan (and presumably the entire anthology of games it will be part of). Today, we got a taste of just how many deaths we can have, and boy, can there be a lot of deaths in this game.

We already knew that a big part of the game was branching paths and replayability. In an interview with GamesBeat, Managing Director Pete Samuels revealed that despite the fact that the cast of Medan will be overall smaller than Until Dawn, it will actually feature more deaths and branches- over 60 in fact. That, coupled with the innovative new multiplayer mode, will get people coming back for many playthroughs, he believes.

“There’s much more content,” he said. “We’ve said that all five characters can live or die, but there are 69 deaths. To see all of them you’d have to play through at least eight or nine times. There’s much more branching content. And of course we’ll give people more ways to play it, with the couch co-op mode and the movie night and the shared story mode, the two-player mode. That’s something we were keen to do, to give people more reasons to play.”

Man of Medan launches on August 30th for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC, and you better get those HDDs ready, because it’s a hefty horror game.
