Mario vs. Donkey Kong Announced for Switch, Launches February 16

Nintendo has announced a remake of the original Mario vs. Donkey Kong GBA game, due out for the Switch next year.

True to recent leaks, Nintendo did end up unveiling a new Donkey Kong game at the recent Nintendo Direct- well, more or less. The Japanese publisher has announced Mario vs. Donkey Kong, the first game in that particular line of games in several years.

As its name suggests, Mario vs. Donkey Kong a ground-up remake of the original Game Boy Advance title, and is looking to deliver classic, familiar mechanics from past Donkey Kong games. Mario will clear obstacle courses and solve puzzles on his way to fighting Donkey Kong himself, while the game’s announce trailer also showcases glimpses of mini toy Marios.

The visual style is also one that’s bound to catch the eye, with a 3D, toy-like look for the characters and the environments themselves. It’s certainly a unique look for a Mario vs. Donkey Kong game. Check out the announce trailer below.

Mario vs. Donkey Kong launches for Nintendo Switch on February 16, 2024. Stay tuned for more details in the coming weeks and months.
