Mass Effect Andromeda Finally Gets Gameplay Footage At The Game Awards

And it looks glorious.

We finally got a look at Bioware’s upcoming Mass Effect Andromeda– and by that I mean we finally got to see some damn gameplay. And yes, the game looks great. Yes, it looks like Bioware could have something truly special on their hands here. Mass Effect Andromeda looks to be the true evolution of the original Mass Effect that we never got- Mass Effect 2 and 3 were more steps sideways than steps forwards.

That is exciting enough on its own, but the combat also looks great this time around (which, while true of the sequels, was really not the case for the original Mass Effect). It’s fast and mobile and frenetic, and it looks far more exciting than before. Also a win-win. Basically, it looks like the fusion of Mass Effect 1 and 2/3 that we were promised, and I for one cannot be more excited.

Unfortunately, we did not get a final release date tonight, other than a reiteration of the game launching in Spring 2017. That said, this trailer should tide us over for a while, I think.
