Metal Gear Solid: The Legacy Collection has been announced only for the PS3, not because Sony and Konami have an exclusivity deal, but because Metal Gear Solid 4 is too big to fit on the Xbox 360 DVDs.
Hideo Kojima has revealed that this was one of the major reasons why he couldn’t release the collection on the Xbox 360. The game fits on a single dual-layer Blu-Ray and would need 7 DVD discs on the Xbox 360, according to the co-host of Kojima’s online radio show.
This won’t be a problem with the next Xbox since it’s rumoured to have a Blu-Ray disc and space won’t really be a concern anymore. Will we see the Legacy Collection on the console? Well Kojima certainly thinks so although he hasn’t confirmed anything yet.
The Legacy Collection contains Metal Gear, Metal Gear 2, Metal Gear Solid, HD versions of MGS2, MGS3 and Peace Walker, the Trophy Edition of MGS4, the Metal Gear Solid: VR Missions, and a number of Metal Gear digital graphic novels.
