Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater has finally been unveiled after years of rumours of a ground-up remake of MGS3, and though there’s still plenty that we don’t know about it, Konami has shared some interesting tidbits since its announcement. The company has, for instance, said that the recently-announced title will be a “faithful” recreation in spite of its gameplay and visual improvements, and that, interestingly enough, is being reflected in its name as well.

Why that name has “Delta” in it instead of the number 3 is something that’s already been asked by many, and Konami recently took to Twitter to offer up an explanation. The company says the remake’s new name was chosen because “its meaning fits the concept of the remake project.”

“Delta means ‘change’ or ‘difference’ without changing structure,” Konami wrote.

Of course, fans will be hoping that we get more concrete details on exactly what the upcoming remake’s changes will entail, what with the reveal trailer having been purely cinematic. How long it’ll be before Konami is willing to share more remains to be seen though.

Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater is in development for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
