Mojang recently stated over Twitter that Minecraft’s Xbox 360 version has sold over 7 million copies since its release. Business developer Daniel Kaplan stated that, “Minecraft on Xbox has now sold 7 million copies!!! CRAZY! =D”

The developer has already announced the PC, Linux and Mac version of the game already crossed 11 million units sold. As of now, it’s unknown whether this includes both the Xbox Live Arcade and retail version – which released earlier this month in the United States – or is just for the digital version.

Whatever the case may be, this is a significant milestone for the indie developer and further testament to the power of the Minecraft brand – which has been selling like crazy ever since its release and inspired other open world sandbox titles like Terraria, also a successful title. As of now, Mojang is busy with other projects but will also be bringing Minecraft to the Xbox One, as announced at Microsoft’s E3 presser..
