Miyamoto has confirmed that a brand new IP is in the works for the Wii U via the Japanese gaming  magazine Famitsu.

Famitsu asked Miyamoto what’s going on as far as the line-up goes for next year for the Wii U. Miyamoto responded with “We hope you’ll look forward to the games to come [for Wii U],” he says. “Next spring, with the release of Mario Kart 8, we’ll have a general selection of titles available, so I’ve been thinking it would be a good time to bring out a new franchise.” Famitsu then asked Miyamoto what was he referring to exactly, and if he had a direct connection with the developer on this new IP.

Miyamoto responded by saying “I can’t say too much in detail right now,” Miyamoto replied, “but I’ve been pretty busy with this title these days.”

What could be the new IP? At this point we are not sure but we will keep you updated once we have more information about it.
