When Mortal Kombat 1: Khaos Reigns launches next month, along with a new story campaign, it will also see the return of three fan-favourite characters in Sektor, Cyrax, and Noob Saibot. Of course, this being the Mortal Kombat 1 version of the Mortal Kombat multiverse, each of these characters will be taking on very different forms, and updates made to the game’s official website have revealed new narrative details on that front.

There’s Cyrax, who – as revealed in WB Games’ most recent trailer for the upcoming expansion – is a young Lin Kuei woman warrior in Mortal Kombat 1’s universe. Serving under Sektor, though her skill has earned her her mentor’s admiration, her independent streak also seems to be putting her in conflict with her own clan.

Sektor, meanwhile, is the Master Armorer of the Lin Kuei in Mortal Kombat 1’s universe. “Sektor grew up immersed in Lin Kuei culture. Her mother was a leading warrior, her father was its Master Armorer,” the official website reads. “Sektor marveled at his flawless work. Apprenticing with him, she eventually surpassed her father’s skills. When he retired, she took his place.” In Khaos Reigns, Sektor will serve as Sub-Zero’s most loyal servant, and will bring about great changes for the Lin Kuei.

Finally, there’s Noob Saibot, the phantasmal double of the deceased Bi-Han, who was once the ruthless Grandmaster of the Lin Kuei. He was, however, killed by “a godly Havik from another timeline”, who then stole his soul and used it to create Noob Saibot, who is “dedicated to fomenting anarchy” and “will not rest until all forms of authority are eradicated.”

In addition to the aforementioned trio, Khaos Reigns will also bring three guest DLC fighters in the form of Scream’s Ghostface, Terminator 2: Judgment Day’s T-1000, and Conan the Barbarian, complete with the likeness of Arnold Schwarzenegger, though all three will arrive following the expansion’s release.

Mortal Kombat 1: Khaos Reigns launches on September 24 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
