Sony is releasing PlanetSide 2 this year on the PlayStation 4 as it’s already available for the PC. If the game sounds oddly familiar to the original PlanetSide then it’s no coincidence. Sony developed PlanetSide 2 as a remake of the original title with a completely new game engine that can support thousands of players.
Taking place in the near future where Earth is damaged from a previous war, peace slowly starts to peak through to the entire one nation of the world. After belief of an alien existence, a search in space begins which ultimately breaks the nation into factions and utter chaos. This first-person shooter will offer a free-to-play model along with a subscription based model. Sony has stated that while they will offer different in-game items for sale, these items will not be more powerful than what players can get in-game without paying.
